Los Angeles Greek Film Festival opens tonight with worldwide premiere of "A Green Story" - a movie about the life of Van Vlahakis and fulfilling the American Dream!
The narrative feature A GREEN STORY from writer/director Nika Agiashvili and Paramyth Films isa triumphant true tale of Van Vlahakis, a Greek immigrant who arrived in America with only $22 in his pocket and eventually founded the multimillion dollar Green company, Earth Friendly Products... The movie features stars like Shannon Elizabeth, Billy Zane and Alexis Georgoulis.
Earth Friendly Products and its founder Van Vlahakis have been supporting Hellenic causes for years throughout the United States and has been Grand Benefactors of the American Hellenic Council!

Greeks & Jews in 20th Century Salonica - A lecture by Dr. Paris Chronakis.
A lecture co-sponsored by the Consulate General of Greece, the AHC, the Hellenic University Club, the Greek Heritage Society, and the UCLA History Dept.
Dr. Paris Papamichos Chronakis, currently a Rothschild Foundation post-doctoral teaching fellow and visiting research scholar at UCLA will examine the entangled trajectories of Salonica's Jews and Greeks in the twentieth century, and showcase how, by forging and re-forging their sense of belonging both at home and abroad, they eventually made Salonica a city of many places as well as a city in many places.
